Microsoft has announced the launch of its E-Learning programme with official curriculum courses in designing, implementing and managing Microsoft technology available online in the UK for the first time.

A new British Standard (BS 8419 Interoperability between metadata systems used for learning, education and training) seeks to provide guidance to developers and managers of learning resources in the UK on the use of metadata.

By applying this standard, users will benefit from improved choice and quality for learners, effective cataloguing, searching and retrieving of learning materials and integration between systems to economise on content costs among other advantages.
